For the Four is still small, new, and growing, which means every bit of support makes a real difference. Below are some of the main ways people can help. If you’d like to get involved, please reach out!
We know many people genuinely want to volunteer their time, talents, and lived experience simply because helping the AYA cancer community is meaningful to them, and for some, that alone is enough. At the same time, we also recognize that patient advocates are too often asked to provide their expertise, emotional labor, and time for free, even when financial support would make a real difference in their lives. As For the Four grows, one of our long-term goals is to create more opportunities for advocates and contributors to be fairly compensated whenever possible, including for smaller projects and behind-the-scenes work.
Coding
Our site is built on WordPress, and we’re always looking for people with coding or web development experience who’d be willing to help out. We’re currently dealing with issues like site padding/spacing and browser “back” button navigation problems, and would love support from someone who knows their way around WordPress and site troubleshooting.
Fundraising
Pardon our language, but this sh*t is expensive. Running and growing For the Four takes real funding, and every dollar genuinely helps. If you’re able to donate, help connect us with fundraising opportunities, or work for a company that offers donation matching or sponsorship programs, we’d love to hear from you.
Outreach
One of the easiest and most meaningful ways to help is by sharing For the Four with others. Sharing our website, resource directory, and social media helps more AYA cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers find support they may not have known existed. If you work with a doctor’s office, oncology clinic, hospital, community organization, podcast, support group, or event, we’d love to connect and explore ways to spread the word.
501(c)(3)
We’re currently working toward becoming an officially recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If you have experience with nonprofit formation, legal/administrative processes, fundraising infrastructure, or board development, we’d love your guidance. We’re also interested in connecting with people who may want to serve on our future board or help support the organization as we grow.
