Worth the Wait Charity is a U.S. nonprofit dedicated to helping young adult cancer survivors (ages 13–39) pursue parenthood by providing financial grants, educational resources, and advocacy for fertility preservation, fertility treatments, adoption, and surrogacy. The organization reduces the financial burden of family building after cancer and educates patients, providers, and caregivers about reproductive health and options for building a family post‑treatment.
Worth the Wait offers two type of financial assistance, emergency fertility preservation grants and post-cancer treatment family building grants. Both grants range from $500-$2500 and are paid directly to the clinic or agency.
Who – Young cancer patients (13–39) not yet treated; Must be used within 60 days.
When – If you apply before the 14th of the month you will be notified if you are selected by the 16th. If you apply on or after the 15th of the moth you will be notified by the 2nd of the following month.
Awarded – $500–$2,500 direct to clinic
Total Awarded – 77 have been awarded so far
Additional Documentation Required – Not yet a parent, Establish financial hardship through IRS Tax form 1040, no fertility insurance coverage, receive treatment at a facility or work within an agency based in US, recommendation and documentation from oncology provider that fertility preservation, treatment is necessary and/or appropriate because of cancer diagnosis
Who – Young cancer patients (13–39) post‑treatment pursuing IVF/IUI, embryo preservation, adoption, etc. and must be used within 120 days
When – Quarterly
Awarded – $500–$2,500 direct to clinic
Total Awarded – 23+ have been awarded so far
Additional Documentation Required – Establish financial hardship through IRS Tax form 1040, receive treatment at a facility or work within an agency based in US, recommendation and documentation from oncology provider that fertility treatment is necessary and/or appropriate because of cancer diagnosis, insurance status documentation
