Description

Humor Beats Cancer is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing joy, humor, and a sense of community to cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers (especially those in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.) Through storytelling, care packages, grants, and digital community building, Humor Beats Cancer helps people facing cancer feel less alone, find laughter in the struggle, connect with others, and get emotional and practical support during difficult times.

Grant Eligibility 

Who- Cancer patient aged 21-49 as of March 1 in the application year 

When-Application due March 31st every year 

Awarded- $1000

Total Awarded  -at least 2 per year 

Additional Documentation Required –  Applicants must submit a written application including a 500-word essay describing a “humorous anecdote” about their personal encounter with cancer, plus a paragraph about why they should receive the grant and a headshot. Essays are judged on Originality/Creativity (50%) and Financial Need (50%). In case of a tie, the applicant with higher originality/creativity wins.
