Wonders & Worries
Free professional support to children (ages 2–18) who have a parent with a serious illness or injury ...
Chemo Angels provides caring support for individuals undergoing IV chemotherapy or intensive immunotherapy for cancer — offering a unique “angel-buddy” system where volunteers send weekly cards, letters, uplifting messages, and sometimes small gifts to brighten patients’ days. Through consistent encouragement and compassion, Chemo Angels aims to help patients feel less alone, uplift spirits during difficult treatment, and bring hope and comfort during challenging times.
Eligibility:
Individuals currently undergoing IV chemotherapy or intensive immunotherapy.
Usually not for those in remission, long-term maintenance chemo, or maintenance immunotherapy — though exceptions may be considered.
Children (age 4+) or adults may be eligible, depending on treatment type.
How It Works:
Patients (or caregivers) complete a patient-application online to request support. If accepted, they are “adopted” by two volunteer Angels who will send weekly mail for the duration of treatment.
Volunteers (Angels) sign up via volunteer application — there are different volunteer types: “Traditional Chemo Angels” (cards/gifts + supportive mail), “Card Angels” (cards/letters only), or “Prayer Angels” (offering prayer support)
Angels are asked to commit to sending at least one card, letter or small gift per week until the patient’s treatment ends (typically 3–6 months, but up to 18 months maximum in some cases).
