Description

The Well Spouse® Association (WSA) is a national nonprofit membership organization dedicated to supporting individuals who care for a chronically ill, disabled, or aging spouse or partner. Recognizing that caregiving partners face unique emotional, physical, and financial challenges, WSA offers peer connection, resources, education, advocacy, and events to help caregivers cope, build resilience, and find community with others who truly understand their journey.

Main Programs

Peer Support & Support Groups

WSA coordinates a national network of peer support groups — both in-person and online — where well spouses can connect, share experiences, and find understanding from others facing similar challenges. There are more than 20 monthly support group meetings across the U.S., along with specialized groups (e.g., by life stage or former spouses).

Online Support Resources

Their website hosts a variety of online tools and resources, including:

A searchable support group directory

Online support forums and community spaces

Articles, reading materials, and caregiving resources to help with coping and survival skills

Mentorship Program

WSA connects new caregivers with experienced “well spouse” mentors who offer personal guidance and support through one-on-one peer mentoring.

Publications

Mainstay Newsletter: A regular publication distributed to members that shares stories, resources, and insights from caregivers

Member Minutes & E-news: Frequent email updates that keep members connected and informed about events and resources.

Events & Conferences

WSA organizes community-building and educational events throughout the year, including:

Regional Respite Weekends: Retreat-style events that give caregivers a break while offering fellowship and support.

Annual National Conference: A yearly gathering (sometimes virtual) featuring workshops, social events, and learning opportunities for well spouses.

Webinars & Symposia: Online events on caregiving topics, mental health, policy, and wellness.
