Description

Compassion Can’t Wait (formerly the Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation) provides rapid-response financial assistance to single parents of critically or terminally ill children, allowing them to remain at their child’s bedside during medical crises. Support is delivered within 24 hours through hospital social workers and covers essential expenses like rent, utilities, groceries, and transportation. This is limited to parents of those who are ill, not the ill themselves.

Eligibility 

Who- Single Parent households with a critically, catastrophically, or terminally ill child in financial crisis  

When- Rolling applications but must be submitted by social worker online

Awarded- Varies based on needs. Typically around $500-$2000 

Total Awarded  – $3.7 million to roughly 2,600 families since 2000

Additional Documentation Required – Not required but copies of bills are helpful in getting approved
